Thank you for interviewing me for YOGALOVE!! Annika Isterling
Nowadays I would say that I just teach YOGA. Cause it feels simple and at the same time powerful enough as a description. My background is being trained sixteen years ago as an Ashtanga Yoga teacher, followed by various Ansuara Teacher Trainings. But I don’t belong to any method or system anymore. I kind of found my own style which is very much shaped by Ashtanga dedication, Ansuara Alignment and Philosophy mixed with Yoga Therapy and Psychology.
I am very inspired by various American teachers like Noah Maze, Tiffany Cruikshank, Kathrin Budig and Chris Chavez. A theme that I just started working on is „yoga methods and selfcare for people prone to addiction"
It has influenced me in being more aware, conscious, less judgmental and open for change and new things. in a way I am not only more flexible in my body, but also flexible in my mind and heart.
Its the whole package for me. An anchor in finding and grounding myself, in feeling happy and healthy with my body, mind and heart.
I practice every day. Its not a 90 min physical practice for myself each day. Its more like 10-20 Minute asana practice, 10-20 Min. Meditation, and doing more conscious exercising throughout the day. Sometimes its also reflection work or reading and digesting books and material that I include in my teachings. I think the key is to being flexible not too rigid with your own practice- but keep it constant.
I had a time where my kids were still very little and very demanding where I lost track of my practice and I had to make promises to myself to practice every second day. I even put appointments in my calendar to keep up with it. But it is so worth it. Especially as a teacher you draw your inspiration from your own practice. And as a mom it keeps me sane.
Actually its myself. I need it and I feel out of balance when I don’t get to practice. Its an inner call.
Downward facing dog. Its grounding, nourishing, centering and it opens up my upper back where I have a tendency to just slouch… ;)
Right now I am preparing for my fourth yoga book. I am also getting set up to film a great New Years program for Yogaeasy on Habit Change in two weeks and I am starting the promotion on my Intensive Mentorship Program for Yogateachers next season.
Zu Atmen. Den Atem dürfen wir auch nicht festhalten, sondern üben uns mit jeder Ausatmung darin bewusst loszulassen, damit was Neues kommen und entstehen darf.
Get in connection with yourself through your breath, your practice and through being aware — this will connect you deeper with your surrounding, nature and other souls.
